The latest book by print industry expert and educator Frank Romano, “The Future of Print in the 21st Century,” debuted at Kodak’s Ipex stand. The book was produced exclusively using a range of KODAK Solutions, from the all-new KODAK PROSPER Press Platform and KODAK NEXPRESS SE Digital Production Color Press to the KODAK VERSAMARK VL Series Printing System, KODAK DIGIMASTER Digital Production System, and new KODAK TRILLIAN SP Plates, all driven by the KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System.

The cover was printed on a KODAK NEXPRESS using KODAK NEXPRESS DIMENSIONAL PRINTING. Some chapters were printed offset using KODAK TRILLIAN Thermal Plates. Chapter 6 was printed on a KODAK VERSAMARK Printer. And lastly, Chapter 11 was produced on the revolutionary KODAK PROSPER Press.

Ipex visitors were invited to attend either of Romano’s K-Zone sessions, meet the author, and receive a complimentary signed copy of the new book. The book provides an engaging history of print, the media and advertising industries that have been shaped by it, and the new technologies that are changing all the rules.

“The printing industry is so exciting because it is constantly changing,” noted Romano. “It’s changed more in the last 20 years than in the previous 600 years. We are very fortunate to be part of this industry and witness the digital transformation that is taking place today.”

Frank Romano is the editor of the International Paper Pocket Pal, the author of thousands of articles and 46 books, including the 10,000-term Encyclopedia of Graphic Communications (with Richard Romano), the standard reference in the field. He has founded eight publications and lectures extensively throughout the industry. He wrote the first report on on-demand digital printing in 1980 and ran the first conference on the subject in 1985. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London, USA Today, BusinessWeek, Forbes, and many other newspapers and publications, as well as on TV and radio. He is Professor Emeritus, School of Print Media, Rochester Institute of Technology.
